As is the key to any job, the prep work is essential.

  • First we clean the surface to be glazed with ArmorKote Tub & Tile Prep. The surface must be clean and free of moisture, oil, grease, loose paint, rust, polish, and waxes. Old paint films that are soft, cracked or not firmly adhering to the surface may lift or wrinkle when glaze is applied over them. In such cases the old finish should be removed.
  • We then fill in any significant chips or holes. We then once again thoroughly clean and dry the bathtub.
  • We mask-off all around the tub and all of the fixtures, hang plastic sheets, and put tarps on the floor. (We are in effect creating a spray-booth in the bathroom.)
  • We then mix a colored resin with a catalyst. A chemical reaction takes place and the new finish begins to harden. We have a couple of hours to work with it while it is still a liquid. The finish coat is then applied to the bathtub using a spray system. It then penetrates and bonds onto the old surface. Because the new finish is applied as a liquid, it molds to the old bathtub and fills in all of the pores, making the tub non-porous.

The result is a bathtub that looks better, lasts longer, and cleans easier.

Customers often resurface theircountertopss is to change the pattern or color. Many kitchens have countertops that are in good shape, but the color is from a time long past. Customers who seek out Armorkote are tired of being forced to decorate around old outdated countertops.

At Armorkote, we apply a new finish over the existing countertop. Weather it be laminate, soap stone, butcher block, or whatever the case may be, the color is changed without having to go through the time, mess and expense of replacement. You will get a new finish that will look like a new counter top. The new finish is strong and durable enough to last for many years. Your new finish will act like a laminate surface. If you cut the surface with a sharp knife, it will have a cut mark. If you place a burning hot frying pan on it, it will burn. In other words, you will have to take the same precautions not to damage the surface as with any countertop. However, if you do damage the new finish, it can be repaired by an Armorkote Technician, since it is applied as a sprayed liquid. This cannot be done on a new laminate countertop. If those get burnt, cut, or ruined, they would need an expensive, time-consuming, messy replacement.

  • Resistance to abrasion and scratching (holds up to normal wear and tear)
  • Impact resistance (won’t crack or chip under normal circumstances)
  • Color retention

Other resurfacing companies may call their product or process something unique or special, but the reality is that all of the top resurfacing companies should be using this finish.

You do need to be aware that there are companies who will use an inferior product to cut costs (our coating is very expensive). This causes problems because these products will not hold up over the long term.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

As is the key to any job, the prep work is essential. After making sure that the countertop is completely clean, we sand the countertop. This sanding takes off the gloss from the original finish and etches the surface. Millions of microscopic holes are opened on the original surface of the countertop. This will allow the new finish to penetrate into the old surface and create an outstanding bond.

We then fill in any significant chips or holes. We then once again thoroughly clean and dry the countertop. We mask off all around the countertop and the sink, hang plastic sheets, and put tarps on the floor. We are in effect creating a spray booth in the kitchen.
We then mix a colored resin with a catalyst. A chemical reaction takes place and the new finish begins to harden. We have a couple of hours to work with it while it is still a liquid.

The finish coat is then applied to the countertop using a spray system. It then penetrates and bonds onto the old surface. Because the new finish is applied as a liquid, it molds to the old countertop and backsplash. You will also find that your countertop will now be non-porous and should clean much easier than before.

The result is a countertop that looks better, lasts longer, and cleans easier.

Armorkote will provide you with a no-cost estimate.

Walls, surrounds, showers, steam rooms, etc.

Resurfacing tile to change the outdated color, make permanent stains go away forever, and bring old dull tile back from the dead is our mission at ArmorKote. Many kitchens and bathrooms have tile that is in good shape, but they are dull, scratched, or just plain ugly. Home owners and renters alike are tired of having to decorate around this unsightly tile.

At ArmorKote, we apply a new airliner coating over the existing tile. The color is changed without having to go through the time and expense of replacement. You will get a new finish that will look like brand new tile. This new coating is strong and durable enough to last for many years. Your new finish will act like a laminate surface; if you cut it with a sharp knife – it will have a cut mark; if you crack it with a wrench or hammer, it will crack. In other words, you will have to take the same precautions not to damage the surface as with any tile. However, if you do damage the new finish,it can be touched up, since it is applied as a liquid. This cannot be done on new expensive installed tile.

Armorkote Refinishing uses a patented, space-age polymer coating originally designed for the United States space shuttle and other high speed aircraft and submersible vessels.

A superior, high-performance acrylic urethane system designed specifically for kitchen and bathroom refinishing. Our glaze is extremely durable and maintains gloss and color retention.

  • Resistance to abrasion and scratching (holds up to normal wear and tear)
  • Impact resistance (won’t crack or chip if you drop a shampoo bottle)
  • Resistance to extreme temperatures
  • Color retention (won’t yellow like epoxy coatings)

This finish has been modified for use in the resurfacing industry. Other resurfacing companies may call their product or process something unique or special, but the reality is that all of the top resurfacing companies will be using this finish.

You do need to be aware that there are companies who will use an inferior product to cut costs (our coating is very expensive). This causes problems because these products will not hold up over the long term.

We will remove any worn out caulk, and re-caulk around the top of the bathtub. this item.

Most bathtubs can be completed in less than 4 hours. Also, the bathtub can be used 24 hours after we have completed our work.

You should not use abrasive cleaners like Comet or Ajax, even Soft Scrub has some mild abrasives in it. However, you won’t need to use abrasive cleaners since the new finish will be non-porous and the dirt and grime should wipe away much easier than before.

For regular cleaning, you should use cleaner that is “Safe for re-glazed bathtubs” We recommend Mr Clean Tub and Tile.

As with any surface, it will eventually wear away. We provide a 10 year guarantee and you should expect 10  years of use before the tub would need to be touched up or redone.

Please note that a new bathtub or liner will wear away over time and need to be addressed in the future as well.

Yes, we can apply a permanent anti-slip texture to the bottom of your bathtub.

The compounds that we use are low VOC and environmentally friendly. Solvents have been dramatically reduced. The VOCs compounds result in a significantly lower smell that dissipates much quicker than older technology – without sacrificing any of the strength and durability our work is known for.

  • The smell is not dangerous – only annoying. as with any smell, it will bother some individuals more than others.
